New head of health and aged care at St.George

St.George has appointed experienced corporate banker, Ian Sanders, to the position of National Industry Leader for Health and Aged Care.

Mr Sanders will be responsible for managing St.George Bank’s Health and Aged Care team nationally.

The team’s work includes the provision of capital for construction and development in the retirement and aged care sectors as well as personal financial services to residents and employees.

The bank’s General Manager for institutional and business banking, Greg Kenny, said the new appointment is a reflection of the continued strong growth within the sector.

“Health and Community Services remains a high growth sector, with real production advancing by approximately 5 per cent over the past 12 months,” he said.

“This growth has also seen the sector increase in importance and at around 6 per cent of the economy, it is near the size of the mining industry with further gains anticipated.”

Mr Sanders said he was looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of the new role.

“One of the unsung stories in health has been the thousands of new employment opportunities created by owners and operators of businesses in this industry,” he said.

“So it’s great to be part of a sector that is integral to the economy, is rapidly evolving and responding to the needs of a changing community.

Mr Sanders has 20 years experience in corporate and institutional banking and executive leadership roles in Australia, New York and New Zealand.
