New CEO at Catholic Health

Catholic Health has released a statement announcing the appointment of Martin Laverty as its new CEO.

He replaces former CEO, Francis Sullivan, who was appointed Secretary General of the Australian Medical Association in December last year.

Mr Laverty is a lawyer by background and has significant experience in developing public health, disability and social policy and a national and international level.

He is also an active volunteer, company director and board chairman.

“My entire professional career has involved working to achieve outcomes from different governments of all political persuasions in Australia and around the world," Mr Laverty said in the statement.

"I'm now looking to work with the Australian, state, and territory governments along with others to reform health and aged care policy to ensure the needs of people in social disadvantage are met."

Mr Laverty is currently a board director of the National Heart Foundation (NSW) and a consultant adviser to the Government of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

Mr Lavety commences in his new role on 5 May.
