Finalist in NFP award

A Catholic Homes manager has been acknowledged as a finalist in the first annual SACS Consulting Award for Leadership in the not-for-profit sector.

Theresa Saunders was recognised for her “inspirational leadership” along with four other finalists.

The award drew 60 nominations from a range of organisations across NSW and Victoria, including aged care providers, youth, disability and children’s services and other health care providers.

The entries were judged by a panel of alumni from Leadership Victoria – a not-for-profit community leadership organisation that aims to support leaders across all sectors.

Ms Saunders has over 25 years of aged care experience in the UK and Australia.

She is currently the Residential Services Manager at Corpus Christi, a residential aged care facility in Clayton, Victoria.

“Theresa’s extensive experience and skills as a manager blend with her natural insight, innate creativity and genuine enthusiasm to provide a truly unique leadership style,” said Kate Hollins, the General Manager of residential services for Catholic Homes.

“Her leadership continues to foster extraordinary outcomes for residents and staff because of her passionate philosophy that everyone should feel respected and valued.

“She believes that residential care is not the end of life rather, a new beginning, and a new chapter in an older person’s life, where age or disability has no boundaries and dreams and wishes can be fulfilled.”

The Managing Director of SACS Consulting, David Marty, said the nominations were of a high standard.

“The submissions highlight the excellence of leadership in the not-for-profit sector and how many unsung heroes the sector has,” he said.
