Peter Gowers, Brian Hargraves and Karen Slater are gearing up for the gruelling 'Tour de Frank'.
Three cyclists will set off on the inaugural ‘Tour de Frank’ charity bike ride this Sunday to raise much needed funds for the Whiddon Group’s 1700 aged care residents throughout NSW.
The 618 km ride aims to raise $100,000 for ongoing transport costs and is an initiative of the organisation’s Logistics Manager, Brian Hargraves.
“I have been working at The Whiddon Group for three years and in this time I have seen the increasing need to provide our aged residents with transport to recreational activities and outings, and to help them achieve further independence,” said Mr Hargraves.
“I encourage people to support the ride by making a donation…Our aged residents are an invaluable part of the community and this is one way people can show their support.”
Mr Hargraves will be joined on the ride by The Whiddon Group’s Director of Care Services, Karen Slater and Peter Gowers from the charity ride’s corporate sponsor, Hickson’s Lawyers.
The three cyclists will set out from Glenfield in southwest Sydney and travel to Narrabri in the northwest of NSW.
The tour will stop off at 12 towns along the way, including Belmont, Singleton and Scone, where fundraising events will be held.
The bike ride is in honour of Frank Whiddon, the founder of Frank Whiddon Masonic Homes which now trades officially as The Whiddon Group.
