Major SA redevelopment

Helping Hand has announced plans to upgrade one of its rural aged care facilities.

South Australian provider Helping Hand will begin work on a multi-million dollar aged care redevelopment in Jamestown next year.

The organisation said the Belalie Lodge project demonstrated its strong commitment to the community.

Helping Hand, CEO Ian Hardy said the redevlopment builds on the foundations provided by the local community before his organisation took over the facility.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue to enhance the provision of care services in Jamestown,” said Mr Hardy.

“The investment of capital works funding by Helping Hand, into the community, will further develop Belalie Lodge as an attractive environment in which to live and work.

As part of the redevelopment, Helping Hand will extend the bathrooms at Belalie Lodge and create a flexible special care unit.

The building work will also see an upgrade of the facility’s security systems and a new hot water supply, along with extensions to the dining room, lounge areas and therapy rooms.

A new office for the organisation’s Northern Areas Community Care team will also be included in the upgraded facility.

Work on the redevelopment will begin late in 2010, with preliminary service works commencing as early as next April.

Belalie Lodge has been operating in Jamestown since 1978.
