Aged care providers have the opportunity to share their views on the Aged Care Act this month.

Aged Care Association Australia (ACAA) and Hynes Lawyers have issued a survey to gauge the industry’s views about reform.

The survey is the second phase of the joint aged care legislation review.

Last year Hynes and ACAA conducted an extensive consultation process with a large cross section of providers across the country.

The survey covers a range of issues outlined in the act, including accreditation, the complaints investigation scheme, planning and allocation, bonds and accommodation charges, and care fees.

The CEO of ACAA, Rod Young, said the review could have a big impact on accreditation and building certification.

“We will use it as the next stage for driving the reform of the existing legislation,” he said.

“Our reason for doing this is that we have been saying to government for quite some years that there are aspects of the Act which need a re-write.”

The survey will be available until 28 March and then Hynes will prepare a report with recommendations for the Commonwealth Government.

ACAA is encouraging all providers to participate in the survey, not just its members.
