Gerard Mansour appointed to Wintringham board

Aged care provider Wintringham has announced the appointment of Gerard Mansour to its board.

Mr Mansour is Victoria’s first Commissioner for Senior Victorians and a former CEO of LASA and Aged Community Care Victoria (ACCV). As commissioner, Mr Mansour’s role includes promoting an age-friendly society and enhancing community participation for seniors.

Ross Cooke, the president of Wintringham and Wintringham Housing, said that Mr Mansour was a highly esteemed and passionate advocate for the needs of older Victorians. “I believe Gerard’s expertise will be an ideal match to the mission and values of Wintringham,” Mr Cooke said.

Peter Hamilton to drive growth strategy at Estia

Aged care provider Estia has announced the appointment of Peter Hamilton as director of development. Mr Hamilton recently held a similar role with Hammond Care.

Estia CEO Paul Gregersen welcomed Mr Hamilton to the executive leadership team. “Greenfield developments are a highly important part of our strategic plan to achieve 10,000 beds by 2020, and Peter’s considerable experience is ideal to drive forward our organic growth strategy,” he said.

As reported by Australian Ageing Agenda, Estia recently entered into a partnership with retirement living operator Living Choice through which more than 500 greenfield aged care places will be developed by the end of the 2019 financial year.

Carer Gateway Advisory Group members announced

Service providers, peak bodies and carers are among the members of the new Carer Gateway Advisory Group which will guide the development of the new national carer gateway.

From December 2015, the gateway will be the key source for government support and information for Australia’s 2.7 million unpaid carers. A phone number and website with a service finder will provide information to carers about the services available to them.

The membership of the Carer Gateway Advisory Group is:

  • James Christian (co-chair) – Department of Social Services
  • Frank Quinlan – Mental Health Australia
  • Peter Sparrow – South Australian Carer Support Network

  • Rebecca Reynolds – National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Health Alliance
  • Dr Ron Sinclair –consumer representative
  • David Bowen – National Disability Insurance Agency
  • John Rasa – Networking Health Victoria
  • Anthony Honeyman – APIS Group
  • Fiona Buffinton – Department of Social Services
