The Benevolent Society has launched a series of briefing documents to assist service providers and carers in the provision of community care.
Prepared in collaboration with the Social Policy Research Centre, the briefings aim to present the latest research in a user-friendly way to help carers put it into practice.
The first briefing looks at the area of care practices that support and enable good care and was welcomed by the Minister for Ageing, Justine Elliot.
“This publication uses Australian and international research to assist aged care providers recognise the value and contribution of care workers and provides advice on how they may be able to better include them in organisational processes,” she said.
The Benevolent Society’s General Manager for Ageing, Barbara Squires said the briefings will be a valuable source of information for the community aged care sector.
“Recent polling conducted for us by Galaxy Research shows that older Australians place great store on being independent in their own homes for as long as possible, so these briefings are an important way of the helping the sector use research evidence to improve community aged care services,” she said.
The briefings are based on reviews of current literature and research, and provide clear pointers towards good practice for community aged care service providers, managers and policy makers, and for the care workers themselves.
