The Australian Government has formally announced ongoing funding for aged care services in Queensland and the ACT.
An agreement between the Commonwealth and Queensland governments will see the state’s HACC budget reach a record $1.2 billion over three years.
Queensland HACC providers will receive the new funding by the 2010-11 financial year.
“HACC is an outstanding example of what can be achieved through Commonwealth and State governments by working together,” said Mrs Elliot.
Record levels of new funding will also be provided to residential care providers in the ACT, over the next four years.
The territory’s 16 nursing homes will receive $300 million in support between 2008 and 2012.
The ACT has the highest life expectancy in Australia for both men and women, at 80 and 83.9 years, respectively.
