The 3rd Australian and New Zealand Falls Prevention Conference will be held in Melbourne, Victoria from the 12-14 October 2008 and is an initiative of the Australian and New Zealand Falls Prevention Society (ANZFPS) with major support from the Department of Health and Ageing. It will follow on the success of the two earlier conferences: 2006 in Brisbane and 2004 in Sydney.
The ANZFPS was formed in 2006 to support and promote falls prevention research, policy, practice and education across all settings, working toward the goal of reducing falls and falls injuries among older people in Australia and New Zealand.
The theme for the conference is ‘Backing Winners in Falls Prevention’ and the program will address key issues in successful falls prevention activities in the community, hospital and residential care settings, from policy and planning, implementation issues, through to large scale rigorous randomised controlled trials.

A broad range of keynote speakers will be participating, providing updates on latest research from Australia, New Zealand the UK and Europe.
This conference will provide multiple perspectives of policy, practice, research and education in falls prevention. With the wide range of quality programs that have recently been completed, or are currently being implemented, there will be tremendous opportunities for networking, sharing and learning.
