IT awards showcase aged care achievement

The big winner at this year’s ITAC [information technology in aged care] awards was iCare Solutions which was recognised in two of the three categories.

iCare took out the information and communications technology company of the year for innovation.

The company took out the award for its HealthPoint system which allows healthcare information to be transferred electronically between organisations using cloud computing.

The award for the best implementation under 150 beds went to Cedar Place Aged Care Facility on the NSW Mid North Coast for its implementation of iCare’s Clinical Solution.

The award for the best implementation over 150 beds went to Barwon Health which operates acute and aged care services around the Geelong are in Victoria.

Barwon Health won the prize for its implementation of a Leecareplus software program.

The organisation used the leetotalcare data across its acute, sub-acute and residential care sites.

It also successfully implemented the leetotalcare HL7 patient information management system interface.

The interface allows staff and managers to forward plan their daily and long-term activities by accessing the profiles of incoming and outgoing residents and clients.

Barwon Health said its implementation has slashed thousands of hours off the time taken to enter and administer resident’s health records.

In a different setting, HealthCube has taken out a national iAward for its electronic aged care medical assessment service.

It collated the data in an innovative manner to create daily statistical reports to support clinical decision making.

The aged care medical assessment solution combines a clinical workflow with specialist software to help clinicians compile comprehensive medical assessments in a common, accessible format.

‘This award demonstrates the ability of small innovative businesses to have a large impact,” said HealthCube’s CEO, Sue Irvine.
