Rockpool unveils $44m Sunshine Coast aged care home

Rockpool Residential Aged Care has unveiled plans to develop a $44 million 150-bed residential aged care facility in Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast.

Queensland aged care provider Rockpool Residential Aged Care has purchased a 6,000 square metre site in Sunshine Coast suburb Pelican Waters to build a 150-bed six-storey residential aged care home.

The $44 million development will sit on Pelican Waters’ new island precinct with resident accommodation split into 15-bed communities.

The ground floor will feature a wellness area, theatre, dining, café and hair salon facilities, function and consulting rooms, and specialty health services.

Rockpool Residential Aged Care CEO Melissa Argent said the organisation was excited to expand to Pelican Waters.

“We are looking forward to creating a stunning design, immersing ourselves in the Pelican Waters community and maximising the incredible landscape on offer so close to the marina,” Ms Argent said.

Rockpool will draw on its industry experience to create a unique aged care environment, she said.

“We do all our own development as well as build and operate our facilities focusing on what the consumer wants and expects including beautiful surroundings, care and culture,” Ms Argent said.

“Everything will be done in-house, handpicking our own chefs, cleaning, laundry, care and hospitality staff. It is a full-service offering.”

General manager of development for the Pelican Waters precinct, Hamish Pressland said the Rockpool Residential Aged Care was an exciting addition for the estate.

“To be able to have such a premium offering of this magnitude is another way of providing a pathway for those in and around Pelican Waters to age in place and not need to leave the area,” Mr Pressland said.

Rockpool Residential Aged Care has submitted the development plans to the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and hopes to receive final approval before the end of the year.

The project is expected to create 100 jobs during construction and an additional 200 jobs once the home is fully occupied.
