New HACC program in Apple Isle

The Tasmanian Government launches a new HACC program to promote independent living.

The Tasmanian Government has launched a new Home and Community Care Program (HACC) aimed at promoting independence for the state’s south.

The Home-based Independence Program (HHIP) w is an independent living program that will provide a multi-disciplinary short-term, home-based early intervention service.

“The program will provide elderly clients with the skills and equipment they need to enable them to continue living in their own homes as independently as possible, for as long as possible,” said Tasmania’s Minister for Health and Human Services, Lara Giddings.

“Research has shown that programs like this have significant benefits – not just for the individual, but for the system too.”

The program will be run by leading Tasmanian care provider, Care Assessment Consultants.
