Screening continence management

Iconic image representing continenceThe Commonwealth Government has provided funding to the Rural Health Education Foundation to produce a television broadcast on Improving Bowel Continence.

The program will go to air across the country on Tuesday, 19 February 2008 to help healthcare professionals deliver quality care and support to people living with incontinence, along with their carers and families.

It will be screened as part of the foundation’s Continence 2007/08 series which also included a special program on Continence and Men’s Health in November and one on continence in children and adolescents.

The program on men’s health brought together a panel of experts chaired by Dr Norman Swan who presents the Health Report on ABC Radio National.

It covered areas such as encourageing men to check up symptoms of bladder and bowel weakness – particularly after prostate surgery – emphasising that treatment is often easier than many people believe

Free DVD copies of the Continence series will be available free of charge to individuals and organisations from late February.
