Centralisation of ACH’s services

Centralised office opened in Adelaide’s Christie Downs

One of South Australia’s largest aged care providers will manage its southern Adelaide services from its newly opened central office in Christie Downs. The federal Minister for Ageing, Mrs Justine Elliot, said the ACH Group’s South office will be a hub for almost 220 staff members and 140 volunteers who provide a variety of care services to up to 5,000 older people each year.

The ACH Group is a charitable organisation and is one of the largest providers of residential and community aged care in South Australia, providing housing for around 690 older people as well as in-home and other services to more than 35,000 older people and their carers, Australia-wide. The ACH Group received around $25 million in Australian Government funding last financial year, and about $5 million from the Australian Government for joint Commonwealth-State government programs.

The new office is located within the Australian Government’s Metropolitan South Aged Care Planning Region, which has one of the fastest growing aged populations in South Australia. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has projected that the area will continue to experience high aged population growth for at least the next 15 years as members of the ‘baby-boomer’generation retire and settle in the area.

“This is a really important service for the southern region. We have an ageing community in South Australia, and providing support for the elderly to keep people well, and out of hospital, is a really critical service and will ultimately reduce pressure on our health system,” said South Australian Minister for Health, Mr John Hill.
