Amity announces new MD

A successor has been found for founding Managing Director, David Armstrong.

The Amity Group’s parent company, Bupa Care Services has announced a successor to the provider’s founding Managing Director, David Armstrong.

Paul Gregersen, who is currently Bupa’s Chief Representative in China, has been appointed to the role and will pay a flying visit to Amity’s head office in Sydney next week.

Mr Gregersen joined Bupa in 2001 and has worked at a senior management level in Europe, Asia and the United States.

Bupa’s Senior Integration Representative, Mark Elliot has been will continue to work with Amity in the meantime and will stay on to support Mr Gregersen until the end of the year.

The founding directors of Amity – Managing Director, David Armstrong; Chief Operations Officer, Armando Sgroi and Director Business Development, David Farrugia – announced their decision to leave in April this year.

“I know their decision has not been taken lightly,” Bupa’s Managing Director, Mark Ellerby said at the time. “However, they each feel the time is right to pursue other interests and allow for a new management team to take the business to the next stage of growth and development.”

Since it started about a decade ago, Amity has undergone significant growth and it now provides care for almost 7,000 residents across 96 aged care homes throughout NSW, Queensland, South Australia and the ACT.

The company will farewell the three founding directors at the end of the month.
