Benetas facility gets full marks

The Melbourne home which was subjected to intense media scrutiny in 2007 has received full accreditation following a recent audit.

Victorian not-for-profit provider Benetas announced that its Broughton Hall facility has received full accreditation following a two-day review.

The 80-bed facility in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell was subject to intense media scrutiny following an unidentified infectious outbreak in April 2007.

At the time the home was found to be non-compliant with 12 of the 44 accreditation outcomes but the recent review found full compliance.

The organisation’s CEO, Sandra Hills said the results of the review are evidence of the ongoing commitment and dedication of the Broughton Hall staff.

“Benetas continues to ensure the caring spirit is at the heart of what we do,” she said.

“The staff at Broughton Hall and, indeed, across all our services, are passionate and dedicated to the individual needs of the clients in our care, and this positive outcome is testimony to that commitment.”

Ms Hills added that Benetas is committed to exceeding the requirements of the accreditation outcomes at all of its residential aged care services.

“Broughton Hall has been given an excellent report and we look forward to our next assessment in 2012,” she said.

“These are exciting times for the aged care industry and I am proud that all 12 of our facilities are fully accredited and continue to provide quality aged care for older Victorians.”
