New manager for Tall Trees neighbourhood

The Tall Trees supported living community at Rochedale has a new manager.

Christina Monk is the new manager of the Tall Trees supported living neighbourhood.

A new manager has been appointed to the Tall Trees supported living neighbourhood community at Rochedale in Queensland.

Christina Monk is stepping into the new role, having worked with the Tall Trees Group since January 2008.

She joined the company as an office coordinator for the Welcome Team and took on the added responsibility of resident liaison coordinator at the end of last year.

Ms Monk said the appointment is a fantastic opportunity to use the experience she has gained to run the neighbourhood.

“I am already familiar with the neighbourhood and personally believe in the concept of supported living, so while challenging, taking on the role was a natural step forward for me,” she said.

“While concentrating on the day-to-day and longer term administration of the neighbourhood is important, it’s the wellbeing and care of the residents that I place as a priority.

“I have many years experience in administration and finance, but it’s working with people that I cherish the most and I try to promote an attitude where the word ‘no’ is not used, but rather work towards an outcome that suits everyone.”

Supported living is a US-derived concept aimed at promoting ageing in place in a community setting.

Tall Trees director Alan Powell said he was pleased with Ms Monk’s appointment, given her knowledge of the neighbourhood and its residents.

“Appointing new positions internally is always a preferable outcome as it means we retain knowledge within the group which is a huge benefit of all,” Mr Powell says.
