Opportunity to speak at major conference

ACSA has called for presentation ideas for its national conference this September.

Aged care industry leaders and experts are being encouraged to submit presentation ideas for the 2010 Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) National Conference.

The theme for the conference which will be held in Hobart this September, is ‘Explore the possibilities.

The conference’s organising committee is looking for ideas that explore innovative practices and new approaches.

The CEO of Aged and Community Services Tasmania (ACST), Darren Matthewson said the conference will come at a critical time.

“As we know there’s a big debate at the moment about health reform and we are coming up to the federal election so there are some important issues to discuss,” he said.

A new feature at this year’s ACSA conference is the Ideas Market Place. Power point presentations about thought-provoking concepts and projects will be displayed on large screens throughout the conference.

“It’s about providing a space for people to throw in their own ideas on a number of issues – to generate some discussion and interaction between the participants,” said Mr Matthewson.

“At a time when we are looking at reform and rebuilding the aged care sector for future challenges, this is very appropriate.”

Topics covered in the concurrent sessions at the conference will include sustainability, IT, food, travel, community care and workforce issues.

People wishing to speak in the concurrent sessions should submit a 200-word summary showing how their talk matches the conference theme. All abstracts need to be submitted by 30 April.
