The inaugural chief executive officer of Leading Age Services Australia (LASA), Gerard Mansour, has announced he will be stepping down from the role to attend to a private family medical issue.   Mr Mansour commenced in the role on 1 July this year, moving from Melbourne where he was chief executive of Aged and Community Care Victoria (now Leading Aged Services Victoria).

LASA Chair, General Peter Cosgrove, said Mr Mansour would remain in the CEO position until a replacement was appointed.

“We acknowledge Gerard’s efforts as LASA’s inaugural CEO in Canberra and we are pleased that he will continue to work with the Board and our state offices during this transition period,” General Cosgrove said.

“LASA has an unwavering commitment to serving the needs of our industry and our members. This commitment will continue as we get on with the important job of representing the interests of aged care providers while we search for a new CEO.

“Family is everyone’s priority and we offer Gerard and his family our full support,” he said.

Mr Mansour said he was pleased to have been able to make a contribution to the new organisation for a small period of time.

“I will always be passionate about the aged services industry and the important role LASA plays in advocating for our members and our clients.

“LASA has come a long way in a short time.  It has a great board and great people and I know it is going to thrive.”

Mr Mansour said he looked forward to attending LASA’s inaugural national congress in Perth from Sunday, saying it would be business as usual for now.

“I am committed to working with our Board to recruit and induct a new CEO who can continue to build on the outstanding work of LASA,” Mr Mansour said.

AAA understands the recruitment process will begin almost immediately.
