Former state director of aged and community care at the Commonwealth Department for Health and Ageing, Allan Quire has joined aged care provider Life Care in the newly created role of director strategy.

For the past seven years Mr Quire was assistant state manager and then acting state manager for the department. Most recently, he oversaw the allocation, monitoring and planning of Commonwealth-funded community and aged care programs.

Life Care CEO Allen Candy said Mr Quire’s strong understanding of the CDC reforms would support the organisation as it transitioned from being an aged care provider to “a service partner that supports seniors.”

“Allan’s knowledge, understanding and passion for aged care is a strong asset to our team as we refine and develop our strategic intent to embrace the opportunities and challenges that a consumer-directed marketplace brings,” Mr Candy said.

IRT Foundation has appointed Professor Mike Hefferan as a community representative on its governing committee.

Professor Hefferan is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) and Professor of Property and Development at the University of the Sunshine Coast and an Adjunct Professor at the Queensland University of Technology.

IRT Group chief executive Nieves Murray said Professor Hefferan had a wealth of knowledge and experience in designing and achieving learning, development and management outcomes within the academic and government sectors.

Meanwhile, IRT Foundation recently announced its first round of Community Grants, with almost $150,000 being invested in 20 community initiatives and projects in NSW, the ACT and South East Queensland to provide practical solutions for improving the lives of older Australians.
