New resources have been developed for aged care providers and registered training organisations to support the provision of culturally appropriate aged care training to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Developed by HK Training & Consultancy, with funding from the Department of Social Services, the free resources cover 14 units of competency as part of the Certificate III in Home and Community Care and Certificate III in Aged Care qualifications.
The resources include student and trainer workbooks, Power Point presentations and student activities, as well as training DVDs that can be ordered upon request.
The 15 supporting DVDs cover topics such as duty of care, pain assessment and management, working with carers, and experiencing disability in a remote community.
HK Training & Consultancy director Kate Lee said she hoped the resources improved the skill base and learning experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in aged care and contributed to positive outcomes for care.
Aged care providers, RTOs and training providers can download the package of resources by registering with HK Training and Consultancy’s Training Resource Centre. Contact email@example.com for further information.
