Ms Little, a community sector veteran of more than 35 years, is currently children’s advocate with Uniting in NSW/ACT, where she has worked for 25 years holding senior executive roles in service delivery, advocacy and innovation.

There, she has been responsible for establishing Uniting’s research and advocacy capability and leading a large suite of programs for children, families, young people, communities and people with disability.

Ms Little has a Masters of Policy (Social Policy) and is a graduate of Stanford’s executive program for NFP leaders and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

She is a member of the UnitingCare Australia National Committee and the chair of the UnitingCare Australia Children, Young People and Families Network and has sat on numerous other high level boards.

“With her unique combination of church experience, service delivery, social policy and qualifications, we believe Claerwen is an ideal choice for the role of national director and we look forward to working with her as she leads UnitingCare Australia into its next exciting phase,” said Colleen Geyer, general secretary of the Uniting Church Assembly.

Associate national director Martin Cowling will continue in the role of acting national director until Ms Little commences on 6 February 2017.
