Guide for retirement living operators considering entering home care

A new resource has been produced to advise retirement living operators on the considerations for moving into the home care market in the context of reforms deregulating the allocation of packages.

The guide, commissioned by the Retirement Living Council and developed by consultancy firm Ansell Strategic, identifies home care delivery options in villages and the benefits and challenges facing operators.

The resource provides an overview of current and future aged care reform and the pros and cons of two main options for village operators – becoming an approved provider of home care packages or forming a partnership with an approved provider.

The resource also includes a decision tree to help operators assess the suitability of options for expansion into the growing sector and tips and advice for implementing a home care business or partnership.

The guide says retirement village operators are well placed to capitalise on the reforms in home care and a growing number of operators are expanding their service offering to residents.

The reference guide, which has been produced in consultation with retirement village operators and home care providers, can be downloaded here.
