Synovum Care appoints operations head
Synovum Care has appointed Dr Alasdair MacDonald as director of operations to lead the organisation’s growth and expansion into Queensland.
The provider is planning to open its $30 million “small-scale living community “at Bellmere in the Caboolture region in August.
Dr MacDonald previously worked as general manager quality and business innovation at Sir Moses Montefiore Jewish Home.
Natasha Chadwick, Synovum Care managing director, said Dr MacDonald brought extensive experience and skills to the team.
Synovum said its first Queensland community, located between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, will have 50 per cent outdoor space fully accessible for all residents no matter how complex their care needs.
A total of 17 small-scale living houses will line six streets emulating a typical Australian community. Each house will have seven ensuite bedrooms, a fully functioning kitchen and laundry, dining and lounge room as well as a front and backyard, according to the provider.
Twilight appoints inaugural patron
The board of Twilight Aged Care has announced the appointment of former director and chairman John Laurie as its inaugural patron.
The organisation said that during his 14 years as director and chairman, Mr Laurie directed major strategic change and growth for Twilight Aged Care, both economically and culturally.
Mr Laurie’s family has a long connection with the organisation; his mother Kathleen was a committed volunteer at the organisation when it began operations.
The organisation said that, as patron, Mr Laurie will provide ongoing support to the organisation, raising the profile of the organisation and hosting fundraising activities.
