New brand and expansion plans for Aged Care Channel

Aged care education provider Aged Care Channel has launched under the new name Altura Learning and announced plans to deliver its programs to a wider range of workers in health and support roles plus consumers.

The organisation, which has been providing education to the aged care sector for more than 20 years, launched under the ACC name in Australia in 2003 and now also operates in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand.

The name change comes 14 months after the company was acquired by aged care provider Bolton Clarke, which rebranded from RSL Care + RDNS eight months ago.

The move to Altura Learning comes with plans to expand beyond aged care to provide education to health, disability and social support organisations and to unpaid carers.

Yvonne Webley

Altura Learning CEO Yvonne Webley said the organisation wanted to build on its success in the aged care sector and was now looking to inspire learners across health and social care.

That includes also opening up programs to consumers, and in particular carers, she said.

“We’ve made a significant investment in research and development and have worked collaboratively with our members, government and key research organisations to build an evidence informed learning approach that is relevant for the care workforce and responsive to current and future needs,” Ms Webley said.

Content can be tailored and scaled to suit, from an individual carer looking after those in the home to small remote providers and major national and international groups supporting large, diverse workforce needs, said Webley, who came on board as CEO in July 2017.

The provider’s registered training organisation, which offers accredited learning courses, has been renamed to Altura Learning Academy.

The new name comes from the words altitude, to aim higher, and altruism, the selfless desire of learners in the health and social care sector to improve lives of care recipients, and reflects the organisation’s desire to expand across care sectors, Altura Learning said.
