Resthaven has opened a new community services office in Mount Gambier following an increase in demand for services.

The Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services office is located in the shopping district in James Street, Mount Gambier.

The new office, which previously operated out of the Mount Gambier residential facility, comes in response to demand for home care customers in the Wattle Range council area, Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services Manager, Liz Southall said.

‘We have seen an increase in the demand for services in Mount Gambier for quite some time’, Ms Southall said.

‘We support older people who live in their own homes, offering a little support with domestic tasks, laundry, shopping and social outings through to high level Home Care Packages.’

Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills and Fleurieu Community Services are now working from a  new location next to the redeveloped aged care home.

Operations shifted to the new $1.6 million purpose-built location at Swanport Road, Murray Bridge, alongside the $16.5 million redeveloped Resthaven Murray Bridge residential aged care home, on December 21.

Resthaven Manager, Buildings and Capital Projects Emmet O’Donovan said the relocation marked a milestone in the development of an aged care precinct.

“This brings all services to the one location,” he said.

He said he was particularly excited about a sculpture by Adelaide metal work artist Gerry McMahon.

“The buildings look fantastic, and the new sculpture is a real talking point,” he said.

Resthaven  purchases land in Adelaide

Resthaven Executive Manager Finance and Corporate Services, David Norton, has announced the purchase of vacant land in the Adelaide suburb of Modbury for future aged care and support services.

“We are considering options to develop the land to support older people who need extra support in residential aged care accommodation, as well as retirement living and community service options,” he said.

A time frame for the redevelopment is yet to be determined.
