ACH Group opens Adelaide health studio

South Australian aged care provider ACH Group is redeveloping a site in Adelaide’s south into a high-tech health studio.

South Australian aged care provider ACH Group is redeveloping a site in Adelaide’s south into a high-tech health studio.

Health Studio 50+ will be located in Christie Downs and is scheduled to open in September.

It’s the second health and wellness hub for the not-for-profit organisation, following the launch of its first studio at Glenelg in 2018.

ACH Group says the centre will focus on positive ageing and offer a range of health and wellness classes.

The $250,000 development also includes a new gym with equipment specifically made for older people, including a fall reduction and cognitive training platform provided by Finnish rehabilitation and ageing specialists HUR (Helsinki University Research).

ACH Group Head of Health Kate Dobie says the HUR equipment uses air pressure to reduce stress on the joints.

The Senso cognitive training platform is the first purchased in Australia, she says.

“The Senso machine improves balance and is a cognitive training platform, which will be especially beneficial to our customers,” she said.

The centre also has clinic rooms for private consultations and a refurbished reception and waiting room for community and health customers, with access to ACH Group allied health professionals.

ACH Group CEO Frank Weits says the equipment and services offered will help clients stay active and regain their health.

“Everything will be in one place for them to reach their optimal state of health physically, mentally and socially,” he said.

Home Care Package and NDIS recipients will be eligible to use their funding to access Health Studio 50+ services, with customer funded options also be available.
