HammondCare partners with Dutch dementia care leader
HammondCare has announced a strategic partnership with Dutch dementia and Huntington’s disease care experts Topaz.
Aged care provider HammondCare has partnered with Dutch counterpart Topaz to exchange knowledge and expertise on dementia and aged care to improve outcomes.
Topaz, which has specialised knowledge about dementia care and rehabilitation, is the worldwide leader in care for people with Huntingdon’s disease, which it has been doing for over 35 years.
The partnership was launched on World Alzheimer’s Day during a webinar involving leaders from both organisations.
It aims to facilitate knowledge sharing and professional development in a range of areas including complex dementia and behaviours, Huntington’s disease and dementia design.
The partnership will also provide opportunities for communities of practise, collaborative research and traineeships between the two organisations.
HammondCare CEO Mike Baird said the partnership would allow each organisation to learn from other’s strengths.
“This partnership will extend knowledge and capability in each organisation and align with HammondCare and our mission to improve quality of life for people in need,” Mr Baird said.
Topaz chief executive Lia de Jongh said the organisation looks forward to working with HammondCare.
“This partnership will benefit both of us,” Ms de Jongh said.
The webinar covered topics such as Topaz’s radical approach to the care, which includes appointing an in-house mother to oversee a home-like atmosphere, and Hammond Care’s cottage-style relationship-centred care model.
World Alzheimer’s Day took place on 21 September.
