Partnership aims to improve medication management
Professional pharmacy service provider Choice Aged Care has partnered with healthcare software company Modeus.
Clinical pharmacist service provider Choice Aged Care has partnered with healthcare software company Modeus, suppliers of cloud-based drug register DiamondCare.
The partnership – announced at the Aged Care Quality, Safety & Risk Forum in Sydney earlier this month – aims to support the aged care sector in its reporting of medication management and alleviate the workload of nursing staff.
Operating in every state and territory, CAC is a Residential Medication Management Review and Quality Use of Medications provider with a government-funded contract to deliver services to 445 residential aged care facilities.
Modeus, meanwhile, offers aged care providers software to run a paperless controlled drug register system.
The service partnership will improve the way dangerous drugs are managed for the 41,000 residents under CAC’s medication supervision, said its CEO Michael Bonner.
“The DiamondCare partnership specifically enables our pharmacists to deliver new and high-level opioid and psychotropic stewardship interventions,” said Mr Bonner.
“These interventions will drive continuous improvement in areas around staff workflows and compliance relating to opioids and controlled drugs and optimising the safe, effective, judicious and appropriate use of opioids for our residents.”
Modeus CEO Carl Zufi said the new partners share strategic direction and company values. “As the use of controlled drugs in aged care settings continue to grow, the need to move away from inefficient manual paper-based systems has never been more critical, and Choice Aged Care is the perfect partner to deliver on this mission.”
