Positively moving with the times
WA’s first ‘active ageing’ conference is calling for papers…and registrations too.
The Council on the Ageing WA Inc (COTA WA) is calling for papers to be presented at its inaugural Western Australian Active Ageing Conference 2011 at the Tradewinds Hotel in Fremantle on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June 2011.
Entitled Moving with the Times, the program will be based on the World Health Organisation’s Active Ageing Framework and its key areas of health, participation and security.
COTA WA invites all interested parties to submit an abstract for inclusion in the inaugural program. Areas they hope to cover include housing, retirement issues, health and wellness, crime and safety, sexuality, age friendly communities, adult learning, carers, aged care, sport and recreation and more.
In particular, COTA is looking for examples of successful projects, gold standard approaches and innovative ideas that have been translated into practice.
A diverse audience is expected to attend, made up of delegates and speakers from all over Australia, including regional areas, and overseas, from the aged care, community care, health, fitness and social services sectors.
The call for papers will close on 1 June 2011, unless the program fill up earlier, and the template for abstracts will be available shortly from the COTA WA website.
Nathan Trengove, Active Ageing Manager with COTA’s Living Longer, Living Stronger project, has offered assistance to potential presenters with deciding which section of the program their paper fits into, or with writing their abstract.
Mr Trengove can be contacted by email or on 08 9321 2133.
