The call for presentations for the Active Ageing Conference 2016 is open until close of business 26 February. The focus of this year’s conference is on restorative care in community and residential aged care.
Following the success of the inaugural event in 2015, the Active Ageing Conference will be held on 4 August 2016 at the Swissotel Sydney.
The event comes as the government starts allocating the first restorative care packages from July, while providers are also responding to their new requirements to embed wellness and reablement across community aged care.
Topics at this year’s conference will include:
- Wellness, reablement and restorative care in aged care
- Health and wellness in residential aged care
- Wellness centres in aged care
- Allied health professionals and their role in restorative care
- Pastoral and spiritual care
- Social connection
- Use of assistive technology and other aids in active ageing
- Co-production: developing programs with clients.
The conference organising committee is looking for new and exciting ideas, engaging stories from the field, creative and entrepreneurial ventures and more. The call for presentations is open until 26 February. Click here to make a submission.
The Active Ageing Conference consists of presentations, panel discussions and hands-on workshops, where the aim is to share the latest evidence on enabling approaches and strategies to implement them.
The highly successful inaugural event in 2015 brought together researchers, providers and allied health professionals to discuss the wellness approaches.

The Active Ageing Conference takes place on 4 August 2016 at the Swissotel Sydney. The conference is hosted by Australian Ageing Agenda and Community Care Review, and organised by Interpoint Events.
