Team Connect, a group of professionals working in and around the aged care sector, has partnered with World Vision and Aussie Farmers Direct to support improved nutrition and child feeding practices in Timor-Leste.
During the month of September (September 4 – 30), Team Connect is encouraging aged care organisations and the care workforce to purchase a Strong & Fit box from Aussie Farmers Direct, which is full of Australian grown fruit and vegetables.
Some $5 from every box sold will be donated to World Vision’s child and maternal health project in Timor-Leste.
“Aged care professionals understand the difference quality care and support can make in the lives of individuals and communities. Through World Vision’s projects, health workers in Timor-Leste can be trained and equipped to have a profound impact in the lives of mothers and children in the region,” said Team Connect.
Funds raised would support activities such as the training of community health volunteers in nutrition assessment and counselling as well as support home visits to educate mothers, caregivers and community leaders to identify children with growth problems and refer them for treatment.
In February, Team Connect was launched to work with Australia’s aged care sector networks and lend support to World Vision’s Strong Women, Strong World campaign.
Current members of Team Connect include Aged Care Channel’s Amanda Terranova and Jane Wrightson, Community Care Review editor Linda Belardi, founder of Acorn Network Samantha Bowen and senior consultant with Mirus Australia Tom Murphy.
