COVID-19 and ACP Webinar for Aged Care Professionals

April 23, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm

Advance care planning, COVID-19 and Aged Care Professionals

Advance care planning is an important part of Australia’s COVID-19 healthcare planning. Advance Care Planning Australia is keen to support Aged Care Professionals to identify advance care planning priorities and actions required.

The Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza 2019 cites the importance of Advance Care Directives as part of a coordinated response. Current research estimates that only 25% of older Australians have documented their preferences in an Advance Care Directive.

This 45 minute webinar will involve a small panel of experts discussing:

• advance care planning priorities and actions required in the context of COVID-19

• roles and responsibilities of the aged care workforce in advance care planning during COVID-19

• ACPA resources available for consumers, staff and service providers.

Panellists include:

• Kelly Arthurs (Clinicial Nurse Consultant at The Advance Project)

• Prof Deborah Parker (Professor of Aged Care)

• Dr Paul Yates (Department of Geriatric Medicine, Continuing Care Clinical Service Unit, Austin Health)

• Linda Nolte (Program Director of ACPA)

• Dr Karen Detering (Medical Director of ACPA)
