ACAR to open in August, final round for home care

Applications for the 2015 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) for both home care and residential aged care places will open in August, Assistant Minister for Social Services Mitch Fifield has announced today.

It will be the final ACAR that providers will have to apply for Home Care Package places, Senator Fifield has confirmed.

As announced in the May Budget, from February 2017 the government is changing the funding arrangements to attach the package to the individual rather than the provider, abolishing the need for ACAR in this sector.

Senator Fifield said the 2015 ACAR would continue to expand the Home Care Packages Program and allocate residential places as well as offer capital grants to assist providers to build or upgrade residential aged care facilities under the Rural, Regional and Other Special Needs Building Fund.

The invitation to apply for places and capital funding will be announced in newspapers and on the Department of Social Services website in August.
