A major clinical software provider has launched a new resident management tool tailored to the new funding instrument.

Australian clinical management software provider iCare, has launched a new module for the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) which commences on 20 March.

According to iCare, the ACFI software module can reduce clinical documentation by up to 30 per cent when combined with its Clinical and Care Management Solution.

An iCare statement said aged care staff currently spend up to a third of their time on administration tasks but this figure can be reduced to 14 per cent when using the iCare system.

The new software automatically triggers and updates care documentation such as handover sheets when an incident is logged.

iCare says the product also helps allocate staff hours more efficiently.

“With salaries a key factor in operating costs, the aged care industry is looking for ways to more effectively allocate their staff whilst at the same time improving the quality of care residents receive,” said iCare Managing Director, Christopher Gray.
