Professor Elizabeth Beattie will be joining QUT
An Australian academic with international experience in dementia care research has been appointed to Queensland University of Technology’s Faculty of Health.
Professor Elizabeth Beattie is returning to Australia after spending 13 years in the USA, where she completed a PhD and conducted dementia research at the University of Michigan.
In particular, her research has focused on the phenomenon of ‘wandering’ and its impact on the functional capacity of people with dementia.
Professor Helen Edwards from QUT’s School of Nursing said Professor Beattie would build the university’s research base in the area of dementia care.
“She will increase our capacity to expand the research we are undertaking through the Dementia Collaborative Research Centre,” Professor Edwards said.
The centre is situated within the School of Nursing and is funded by Department of Health and Ageing.
