Catholic Healthcare appoints Teulan as chair
Health and ageing consultant Stephen Teulan has commenced as chair of the board of Catholic Healthcare.
Health and ageing consultant and former aged care provider chief Stephen Teulan has commenced as chair of the board of Catholic Healthcare.
Mr Teulan (pictured above) took up the position this week after a period of rapid growth at the New South Wales and Queensland health, aged care and retirement living provider under his predecessor David Robinson, who oversaw an expansion of residential and home aged care.
Mr Teulan, who has sat on the board since 2018 and was appointed chair designate in July 2020, brings a range of strategic and leadership expertise to the board.
He is currently a principal consultant at international management consultancy Nous Group and was previously head of fellow NSW and ACT aged care provider Uniting, where he was director of ageing.
He has also held public policy and government advice roles and is an advocate for social services and social justice.
“Mr Teulan is familiar with governance within a bicameral church structure with its mission imperatives and will oversee Catholic Healthcare as it seeks to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead in the aged care sector,” the trustees said in a statement.
Mr Tuelan said Catholic Healthcare’s mission was particularly relevant in the current uncertain environment with increasing demands being made on aged and home care services.
“Catholic Healthcare is committed to its mission of promoting life in all its fullness by providing aged, health and home care services, inspired by the Catholic faith-tradition in accordance with our values of honesty, hospitality, compassion, excellence and respect,” he said.
Catholic Healthcare provides home care services to over 4,000 people and operates 42 residential aged care homes in NSW and south-east Queensland, as well 12 retirement living communities and two healthcare services.
