MAA appoints new director

Spiritual care in ageing peak body Meaningful Ageing Australia has appointed aged care executive Adam McIntosh to its board.

Mr McIntosh is the associate director of mission for UnitingCare Queensland where he oversees chaplaincy services and the integration of spiritual care across the provider’s 47 aged care facilities, four hospitals and community aged care services.

He holds a Doctor of Theology, postgraduate qualifications in education, management and organisation coaching plus undergraduate arts and theology degrees.

Mr McIntosh is a recent graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and also works part of the executive leadership team for Aged Care and Community Services, and oversees pastoral and spiritual care.

Mr McIntosh has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing spiritual care in the aged care sector and is passionate about raising awareness of and supporting spiritual care in aged care, MAA said.

MAA chair Ross Low welcomed Mr McIntosh to his now role.

“Adam has a wealth of experience and knowledge and brings with him a passion and dedication for helping to improve the care of older people. I, and the rest of the board, are looking forward to working with him over the coming years,” Mr Low said.
