Darren Mathewson has been appointed full time CEO of Aged and Community Services Tasmania (ACST).
Prior to his appointment, Mr Mathewson has held leadership positions in a number of community organisations including the Tasmanian branch of the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union.
He has also worked at a peak council level facilitating the development of cross-organisational cooperation and has been involved in education, development and campaign strategies.
Mr Mathewson has identified funding and workforce as the major issues facing the industry and says he is looking forward to working closely with members and key stakeholders to position ACST as an organisation of influence.
“We want to build on the federal campaign that has been running nationally,” he said.
“That’s been a good campaign but over the next few years we want to drive that campaign further down into the community so that we get a broader base of support at the next election.”
Mr Mathewson is also a current member of the Tasmanian Minister for Community Development’s Stronger Communities Taskforce.
