New mission leader
UntingCare Ageing has announced its new Director of Mission and Ministry.
Rev Eric Drury is the new Director Ministry and Mission for UnitingCare Ageing.
UnitingCare Ageing NSW.ACT has announced Rev Eric Drury as its new Director Ministry and Mission.
Rev Drury is a well known figure within the organisation and has been serving as the Acting Director Ministry and Mission in a part-time capacity since November 2008.
With a strong focus on people and relationships, he hopes to engage with the six UnitingCare Ageing regions to continue strengthening the role of older people within the Uniting Church.
“I am conscious of the privilege and responsibilities of this role and am mindful of the opportunity I have been given to represent the love and grace of God,” said Rev Drury.
“The staff in UnitingCare Ageing are committed to delivering the best possible care to the people we serve and I hope to help them by strengthening the quality and integration of pastoral and spiritual care as a significant part of the total care given.”
Rev Drury was ordained in October 1972 after experiencing a strong sense of God’s call and joined UnitingCare Ageing as a Chaplain at Northaven, West Pymble, in November 2005.
He later became one of the Regional Coordinating Chaplains for the Northern Sydney Region.
Describing the new position as his most challenging yet, Rev Drury believes his previous roles have provided him the with experience to meet the expectations of the position.
“This role is about being a spiritual compass within the organisation,” he said.
“I hope to encourage the understanding that who we are and what we do as an organisation of care with older people is a vital and relevant ministry and mission of the Uniting Church.”
