Calvary Health Care announces Martin Bowles as next CEO
Calvary Health Care has announced the appointment of Martin Bowles as national chief executive officer to replace current NCEO Mark Doran, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Mr Bowles, who stepped down as secretary of the Federal Department of Health a week ago after three years in the job, has almost 40 years as a senior public servant, also working in the Queensland and New South Wales Governments.
He moved to the Commonwealth public service 11 years ago where his positions also included deputy secretary in the departments of defence and climate change and secretary of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
Little Company of Mary Health Care chair John Watkins said Mr Bowles’ vast experience in health and his leadership capacity were key to his appointment.
“Martin’s obvious capability, outstanding leadership qualities and deep commitment to serving the people of Australia strongly aligns with Calvary’s mission to provide quality, compassionate healthcare to our communities, including the most vulnerable and those reaching the end of their life,” Mr Watkins said.
Mr Bowles will commence at Calvary on 1 November. Mr Doran will finish up on 1 December after nine years in the role.
Advocare appoints Diedre Timms as CEO
Western Australia’s peak elder abuse support agency Advocare has appointed experienced community care and not-for-profit executive Diedre Timms as chief executive officer.

Ms Timms was most recently head of home and community care at Silver Chain and chief operations officer at Perth Home Car Services before that.
She has also held senior positions at Aged and Community Services WA, Volunteer Task Force, Australian Red Cross and the South West Aboriginal Medical Service.
Advocare chair Andrew Schox said Ms Timms’ skills in executive and board level positions and the NFP sector would be a great asset to the organisation and its cause.
Advocare is one of the nine members of the Older Persons Advocacy Network, which is funded by the Federal Government to run the National Aged Care Advocacy Program.
Ms Timms will commence in role on 18 September.
Her appointment follows the retirement of former CEO Greg Mahney last month after more than 10 years with the organisation.
