New chair for UnitingCare Aged Care Network
Resthaven CEO Richard Hearn has been appointed the new chair of the UnitingCare national Aged Care Network, replacing former chair Geoff Batkin.
The Aged Care Network represents providers across Australia delivering residential, home care, regional and remote and a number of special purpose services.
The network said it looks at broadening the national policy discussion from aged care to healthy ageing.
Mr Hearn has been with Resthaven, the South Australian provider of residential and community aged care, for more than 30 years.
Anne Livingstone appointed to Forde Foundation
The Queesland Government has appointed aged care technology innovator Anne Livingstone to the Forde Foundation Board of Advice, the entity established to help Queensland’s Care Leavers.
Ms Livingstone is the research and development lead for Community Resourcing and community lead in the aged care sector’s ICT company.
The Forde Foundation was established in 2000 by the state in response to the Commission of Inquiry into Abuse of Children in Queensland Institutions, known as The Forde Inquiry.
“Many of the estimated 500 000 Forgotten Australians are ageing or prematurely ageing due to the conditions faced as children in institutional care. The Forde Foundation plays an important role in recognising and supporting these individuals,” said Ms Livingstone.
