Resthaven appoints new executive

Resthaven has appointed Melanie Ottaway as its new executive manager of community services.

South Australian aged care and retirement village operator Resthaven has appointed Melanie Ottaway as its new executive manager of community services.

Ms Ottaway’s appointment follows the resignation of long-serving Resthaven executive Sue McKechnie.

Ms Ottaway is currently executive manager of services for older people at Uniting Communities where she works across the residential, home care and retirement living portfolios. She was group manager at Southern Cross Care SA & NT prior to that.

“We believe Mel will be a valuable addition to the Resthaven executive team and we welcome her to Resthaven,” said chief executive officer Darren Birbeck.

Ms Ottaway sits on the management advisory, home care and retirement committee for sector peak the Aged and Community Care Providers Association and is a member of the Dementia Expert Reference Group. She holds master’s degrees in nursing and business.

Senior manager Sue Dahl will be acting executive manager community services from 1 April while Resthaven waits for Ms Ottaway to commence her new role.
