West Australian aged care and retirement living provider Bethanie has welcomed residents to seven new cottages at its Esprit retirement village in Eaton.

Bethanie Esprit, which currently has 82 villas, commenced the construction of 34 new cottages in May last year.

The new development features 10 cottages in stage one, which opened at the beginning of June, and 12 cottages each in stages two and three.

The village is expecting to welcome residents to six more cottages next week as stage two of the development opens.

The pet-friendly village has a clubhouse and gym, heated swimming pool, bowling green and movie theatre.

There’s also a craft room, hair salon, library, bar and dining room, caravan parking facilities and a men’s shed.

New residents Geoff and Di Spice said they were looking forward to making new friends and using the pool.

“It’s an exciting new chapter in our lives. We have been caravanning for a few years. Whilst we loved the trips, we always feared what we may confront at our large suburban property on our return,” Mr Spice said.

Bethanie manager of sales Amanda McLearie said the April move-in date for the stage one cottages was delayed because of COVID-19.

“There have only been a few weeks delay, due to some challenges with the supply of materials from both domestic and international locations and limiting trade numbers to certain areas and cottages,” Ms McLearie said.

“The first residents to move in are very excited to get into their new cottages,” she said.

The entire development is expected to be completed by August 2022.
