Levande celebrates 28-storey village with rooftop tree
The tallest retirement village in NSW celebrated its external completion this week, with Levande CEO Kevin McCoy saying it will be an intergenerational development.
Levande celebrated the external completion of its 28-storey vertical retirement village in Sydney’s Epping – The Cambridge – this week with a topping out ceremony that featured a tree lifted onto the rooftop by a crane.
The Cambridge is the latest development for the retirement village operator, and is the tallest vertical retirement village in New South Wales.
Levande chief executive officer Kevin McCoy said The Cambridge would be an intergenerational development.

“There’s a K-6 primary school on the broader site, which we have rebuilt as part of the project, to which students will return at the start of term 2. With a church and retail outlets also nearby, the result will be a vibrant precinct, where residents can enjoy all the benefits of an inner-city lifestyle,” he said.
Due to open in late 2026, the site will provide 158 independent living apartments and will also feature a resident clubhouse and bar, alfresco lounge, rooftop entertainment space, fitness centre, heated swimming pool, games room, cinema, library, hair salon, vegetable garden and workshed – all one elevator ride away.
Six floors have been set aside for a proposed residential aged care facility, with Opal Healthcare set to provide the care within the precinct – which will be known as Epping Grand Care Community – to enable continuity of care for residents of The Cambridge and older people in the local area as they age.
“We’re thrilled to reach this pivotal stage in the development of The Cambridge,” said Mr McCoy. “This project is the latest example of our commitment to creating innovative, exceptional living spaces for our residents.”
Richard Crookes Constructions were contracted for the redevelopment of The Cambridge.
Levande has multiple other projects underway, including the redevelopment of Cardinal Freeman retirement village in Ashfield which they celebrated this week with a sod-turning ceremony.
