New developments for Anglicare Sydney and IRT
Anglicare Sydney is opening an aged care home in Carlingford and IRT Group has unveiled its masterplan for a new seniors living facility on the South Coast.
Not-for-profit aged care and retirement living provider IRT Group is unveiling an enhanced masterplan of its proposed seniors living community in Milton on the South Coast of New South Wales and is inviting the Shoalhaven community to give feedback at two drop-in sessions and an online webinar.
The first drop-in session will be on 15 October from 11am to 1pm at the Community Hall, next to Milton Anglican Church, and the second will be from 4pm to 6pm at the Ulladulla Civic Centre. The online webinar will take place on 16 October from 6pm to 7pm.
IRT chief executive officer Ross Gallagher said community engagement is a key milestone in their long-term strategy to create a vibrant and sustainable community – they also held community feedback sessions for the Moruya senior living facility in August.

“This new development is about more than well-designed infrastructure – it’s about creating a community that embraces independence, connection and choice at every stage of ageing,” Mr Gallagher said.
“Our vision is to deliver a flagship destination that sets a new benchmark for seniors living on the NSW South Coast, combining modern accommodation with spaces that foster wellbeing, lifestyle and community connection.
“It also forms part of our broader commitment to deliver more than 800 homes for older Australians across Greater Western Sydney, the Illawarra and NSW South Coast over the next decade – a significant investment in the communities we know, serve and are deeply proud to be a part of.”
Mr Gallagher added that IRT wants the final product to reflect “not just the needs of today, but the needs of tomorrow and beyond.”
The land was purchased with development approval for an aged care centre and retirement village already granted but IRT has since reimagined the original plans to reflect the future needs of the region, including:
- a modern, purpose-built aged care centre
- a retirement village with a mix of villas, apartments and units for independent living
- short-term and key worker accommodation to support local health services and visitors
- a wellness centre, gym, hydrotherapy pool and sauna
- a central market square with ancillary pharmacy and convenience store
- green spaces with a clubhouse, library, café, parks, gardens, barbecues and walkable pathways.
IRT has also started the early preparations of constructing a new roundabout – in line with the original development approval – to help with traffic flow at the intersection of Warden Road and the Princes Highway.
Anglicare Sydney to open in Carlingford
Meanwhile in north-west Sydney, Anglicare Sydney will be opening its 24th aged care home in 2026 by recommissioning a former Wesley Rayward site into a 74-room residence.
The new home will be in Carlingford – where people aged 65 or over make up 16 per cent of the population.

Anglicare chief executive officer Simon Miller said the signing of the lease at the Carlingford site reflects their approach to delivering aged care that responds to the evolving needs of Australia’s ageing population.
“We walk side by side with older Australians and are committed to providing high quality care that enriches lives and strengthens communities,” he said.
Wesley Mission CEO, Reverend Stu Cameron said they are “delighted” that Anglicare Sydney will be providing aged care on the site.
The home is adjacent to the Alan Walker retirement living community which Rev Cameron said is also reflective of how Christian aged care providers can work side by side to achieve great outcomes.
