The next edition of Australian Ageing Agenda magazine has a special focus on workforce management, building improvements and medication management.
There’s always been a need in the aged care sector to attract and retain the right staff. But in this climate, there’s little room for error or delay in acting.
We know some of the biggest challenges for aged care providers nationwide concern the workforce. But it is not all doom and gloom.
In the next edition of Australian Ageing Agenda magazine, we’re looking into novel, scalable, successful and affordable ways stakeholders are addressing and overcoming the myriad of challenges in managing their workforce. Areas of interest include:
- recruiting the right staff
- retaining workers
- supporting staff to avoid burnout
- smart rostering
- training opportunities.
Building improvements
Renovations and refurbishments offer providers a way to spruce up outdated or inadequate aged care home environments to provide residents a better quality of life.
Strategic improvements can offer residents more comfort, privacy and a variety spaces to enjoy inside their home. It can also offer increased access to the outdoors as well as more functional and inviting spaces outside for residents and their visitors to experience.
Also next issue, we are exploring some of these options with those who have recently upgraded aged care environments to find out what works, why and their tips for a successful project.
Medication management
Issues related to medication administration and management continue to feature at or near the top of complaints in residential aged care.
But there are strategies to improve the safe use of medications in residential aged care.
