CCOA members meet to discuss future
The peak organisations and charitable providers behind the Grand Plan will meet tomorrow to talk about possible future directions.
The eleven members of the Campaign for Care of Older Australians (CCOA) coalition will meet tomorrow to discuss the group’s future.
The primary focus of the campaign was the federal election but the member groups will now discuss possible strategies in the lead up to the release of the Productivity Commission’s report on aged care.
“This meeting we have on Friday is the first opportunity we will have to discuss the shape of the campaign after the election,” said CCOA chair, Greg Mundy.
“We will discuss the level, flavour and intensity that the group as a whole wants to take forward.”
Mr Mundy said the aged care political debate in Melbourne in the lead up to the election was the highlight of CCOA’s Grand Plan campaign.
“It’s the first time since 2001 that we have managed to get the three main party spokespeople in a public setting,” he said.
“In that forum we got two of the parties to promise additional money upfront.
“And now we have got a coalition of the ALP, that had a big picture health reform agenda, and the Greens, who had the most aged care friendly election policy – as well as two rural independents with a known strong interest in rural aged care.”
Over 30,000 emails were sent to politicians through CCOA’s the Grand Plan initiative and the campaign had over 1,000 followers on Facebook.
