AUDIO: Consumer directed care is not just a new set of rules, it’s a significant cultural and mindset change for age services. It’s also more than just person-centred care, according to Ronda Held, manager of Home Care Today at COTA Australia.

Speaking at the LASA National Congress on Monday, Ms Held shared advice with service providers on the factors for a successful transformation to consumer directed home care.

She said providers should start small and build their finance systems and staff training around a clearly articulated service model.

As Australian Ageing Agenda recently reported, Home Care Today is an online suite of practical resources and tools developed by COTA in conjunction with provider peak bodies. Home care providers can also participate in national workshops.

Ms Held spoke to the NEWSROOM about the lessons learned from early adopters of CDC, significant challenges for providers and how CDC is redesigning workforce roles:

Pity, would have like to read more of this article and what Rhonda said to the newsroom.

  2. Hi Kerry,
Audio will sometimes not render properly on older versions of Internet Explorer, but it should play on other browsers such as Mozilla and Googe Chrome.
    Hope that helps!
    Cheers
